The Law Enforcement Advancement Program (LEAP) is limited to undergraduate (CCJ 3941) and graduate (CJE 6716) students with law enforcement experience. This program combines classroom instruction with specialized police training and workplace experience to produce successful law enforcement professionals and future leaders in the field.

Law Enforcement Academy (15 credits)

1. Enrollment in the BSCJ or BSCS degree program (with 60 credits).
2. Graduation from a Florida state-certified Law Enforcement Academy (or equivalent) while enrolled in the BSCJ or BSCS.
3. Submission of a current résumé and short narrative used to assess prior learning.
4. Students earn tuition-free credits for CCJ 3941. $175 processing fee will be assessed.

Advanced Career Development (3-15 credits)

1. Current employment as a certified law enforcement officer.
2. Enrollment in the BSCJ or BSCS degree program (with 60 credits).
3. Completion of Florida state‐certified courses for advanced and specialized training programs within the past four years (or equivalent): 3 credits = 30 hours; 6 credits = 60 hours; 9 credits = 90 hours; 12 credits = 120 hours; and 15 credits = 150 hours.
4. Submission of a current résumé and short narrative used to assess prior learning.
5. Students earn tuition-free credits for CCJ 3941. $175 processing fee will be assessed.

Law Enforcement Practicum (3-6 credits)

1. Current employment as a certified law enforcement officer.
2. Enrollment in the MSCJ.
3. Completion of Florida state‐certified courses for advanced and specialized training programs within the past four years (or equivalent): 3 credits = 30 hours and 6 credits = 60 hours. These credits must be in addition to any hours previously applied to CCJ 3941.
4. Completion of CJE 6716.
