Dr. Peacock Part of Assessment of Law Enforcement Reform in MozambiqueThe lone academic selected for a U.S. Department of Justice assessment team, Dr. Peacock helped evaluate the prospects for an assistance program to support rule-of-law policing and investigation practices in the country. The program is expected to include a role for local civil society institutions in training Mozambique officers. |
Dr. Zgoba Publishes Study on the Effectiveness of SORN LawsDr. Zgoba led a study published in the Journal of Experimental Criminology on the effectiveness of sex offender registration and notification (SORN) laws. The conclusion of the study is that SORN laws are ineffective at reducing recidivism. |
Dr. Kutateladze Receives University AwardDr. Kutateladze has received an FIU Faculty Award for Excellence in Research & Creative Activities. He will be honored along with other award winners at the Faculty Convocation Award Ceremony in Fall 2021. |

Dr. Guerette Awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Lead Research in IcelandDr. Guerette will be working with the Icelandic Police Commission and the University of Akureyri in developing curriculum for their police training programs related to the analysis and prevention of cyber-based crime. |
PhD Student Marcia Diaz Publishes New Research on Stalking VictimizationThe study, entitled "Exploring Multiple-Perpetrator Stalking: Victim Consequences of Solo and Multiple Stalkers," was recently published in the journal Victims & Offenders. |
Launch Event Held for USAID’s Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine ProgramOn March 30, USAID held the launch event for the FIU-coordinated Higher Education Component of USAID’s Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Program. The hybrid live event for invited Ukrainian press included the announcement of the 14 universities in Ukraine that were selected out of 29 leading Ukrainian higher education institutions that applied to participate in the three-year program. |
