Biography

Dr. Bradley O’Guinn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida International University. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. His research focuses on policing, with particular emphasis on police organizations, recruitment and retention, officer decision-making, and the effectiveness of police strategies and interventions.

A central focus of Dr. O’Guinn’s research is understanding how police agencies can use evidence to improve organizational practices and public safety. Much of this work is applied and conducted in partnership with law enforcement agencies. His research examines why officers remain with or leave their agencies, how organizational experiences shape officer attitudes and behavior, and how public safety interventions influence crime and disorder. He also studies place-based policing and the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based policing strategies.

Dr. O’Guinn’s research has appeared in several journals including the Journal of Experimental Criminology, American Journal of Criminal Justice, Crime & Delinquency, Justice Evaluation Journal, and Policing: A Journal of Policy and Practice.
