Biography

Lisa Stolzenberg is a professor and chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida International University’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Criminology from Florida State University. Her research focuses primarily on discretionary decision-making and disparity within the criminal justice system. Dr. Stolzenberg’s research has received considerable media coverage and appeared in books and top-tier journals in criminology and sociology, including Criminology, JusticeQuarterly, Journal of Criminal Justice, American Sociological Review, Social Forces, and Social Problems, among others. She also received funding from NIJ and BJA to support her research and held previous research positions in several organizations, such as Westat, Inc., the Justice Research and Statistics Association, the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, and the Florida Department of Corrections.
